With its roots dating back to the 13th century, Ashford Castle has stood as a symbol of Irish heritage, once serving as the residence of the Guinness family before being transformed into a world-class luxury hotel by The Red Carnation Group. The castle’s restoration, completed in 2015 at a staggering cost of 75 million dollars, brought with it the vision for a dedicated wellness space—a sanctuary to rejuvenate body and mind, overlooking the serene Lough Corrib.

In this context, Bonino’s design interprets the wellness center as a seamlessly integrated outbuilding, one that respects the architectural legacy of the castle while introducing modern luxury spa facilities. At the heart of this transformation, Extravega played a pivotal role in realizing this ambitious vision, fabricating and installing a custom-made architectural structure that elegantly blends the charm of Gothic-style arches with the precision of bronzed aluminum profiles and insulating glass.

The wellness center now boasts an indoor swimming pool, five treatment cabins, a Hammam, a Turkish bath, and a fully-equipped fitness area, all within an environment designed to harmonize with the castle’s medieval aura.
