At Baron Capital in New York, located on the 49th floor of the iconic General Motors Building, Extravega worked in collaboration with Gensler and JRM Construction Management to create a spiral glass staircase that pushes the boundaries of design and engineering. This suspended masterpiece, which hovers just half an inch above the floor, became the focal point of the office space, offering an extraordinary blend of elegance and cutting-edge engineering. The challenge was immense: a structure with minimal support and an intricate design requiring incredible precision.

We crafted a glass staircase with no base support, relying entirely on seven steel tie rods anchored to the 50th floor beams. This extraordinary creation holds a 40,000-pound weight suspended in the air with a barely noticeable, seamless appearance. The structure is composed of twenty steps and an 18-foot long glass bridge, all precisely engineered for flawless balance. The custom-made components were crafted from brushed duplex stainless steel, one of the strongest materials in the world, ensuring durability while maintaining an unmatched aesthetic.
