Costata Restaurant – New York

Design by Architect Franco Rosignolo. In the vibrant heart of SoHo, New York, Costata Restaurant emerged as a culinary landmark under the visionary design of architect Franco Rosignolo. This elegant establishment, led by renowned chef Michael White, was celebrated for its sophisticated ambiance and exceptional dining experience. To bring this vision to life, Extravega meticulously crafted various bespoke elements, ensuring every detail resonated with refined luxury.

Upon entering, guests were greeted by an inviting entrance adorned with decorative mirrors, thoughtfully designed to enhance the spatial aesthetics. The ambiance was further elevated by custom lighting fixtures, casting a warm, welcoming glow throughout the space. The lounge area featured tailor-made sofas and furnishings, offering both comfort and style, meticulously crafted to complement the restaurant’s chic interior.

The bar area was a testament to Extravega’s craftsmanship, featuring bar counters spanning three floors, each clad in rich mahogany and exquisite red Damascus marble. Above, backlit glass shelves with drop curtains showcased an array of spirits, while custom-designed stools provided patrons with elegant seating options.

Throughout the restaurant, Extravega supplied an array of bespoke tables and chairs, each piece thoughtfully designed to harmonize with the overall aesthetic. The walls and ceilings were adorned with fabric lighting fixtures, creating a soft, ambient illumination. Mahogany wall coverings and textile accents added layers of texture and warmth, enhancing the intimate dining atmosphere.

A striking feature within the space was the corten steel wall, which housed a custom-made, laser-cut, backlit niche. This artistic installation served as a focal point, seamlessly blending form and function, and exemplifying Extravega’s dedication to innovative design solutions.

Costata, located at 206 Spring Street, held a special significance for Chef Michael White, as it marked his return to the very space where he had previously made his mark with Fiamma Osteria. The collaboration between Extravega and the Altamarea Group resulted in a space that was not only visually stunning but also functionally exceptional, providing guests with an unforgettable dining experience. The meticulous attention to detail and commitment to excellence in every aspect of the design and execution underscored Extravega’s reputation as a leader in bespoke architectural and interior solutions.

Note: Costata Restaurant has since closed, but its legacy as a culinary and design landmark in New York’s dining scene endures.
