In the heart of Manhattan, where Italian design heritage meets the soaring New York skyline, Extravega has engineered a masterpiece of micro-architecture. Designed by the renowned firm Park Associati, this custom staircase serves as the focal point for the new headquarters of a globally recognized Italian brand, blending sculptural beauty with rigorous technical precision.

The structure celebrates a dialogue between noble materials and modern technology. The marble steps are elegantly encased in bronzed brass cladding, creating a warm, prestigious aesthetic. This materiality is further elevated by integrated LED lighting on the underside of the stairs, casting a soft glow that makes the entire structure appear to float within the space.

To maintain visual lightness, the design features extra-clear tempered glass parapets, offering maximum transparency without compromising safety. The full-height lateral panels, made of extra-clear laminated glass, are meticulously finished with custom bronzed brass “C” channels along the edges—a testament to Extravega’s commitment to “sartorial” metalwork.

Beyond its aesthetic appeal, the project involved complex engineering to meet the stringent safety standards of New York high-rises:

• Fire Safety: At the 16th and 17th-floor landings, the staircase integrates tempered glass smoke drafts, designed to be almost invisible while fulfilling essential safety functions.
• Structural Support: A monumental marble wall spans the height of the space, supported by a sophisticated hidden metal substructure specifically engineered to hold the marble tiles in perfect alignment.
