Global Relay – New York

This stunning spiral staircase at a multi-storey building on 6th Avenue in New York was masterfully designed by Adam Lorenc of Lorenc Design for the Global Relay HQ. The general contractor for this project was JRM Construction Management. This architectural feature serves as a focal point, showcasing a dedication to aesthetics, quality, and meticulous attention to detail.

We took on the challenge of transforming this sculptural feature vision into reality. Engineering every aspect with meticulous precision. From the full set of construction drawings to the signed and sealed engineering packages, every detail was carefully developed to ensure both beauty and structural integrity. The staircase itself is a masterpiece of materials and craftsmanship: its fluid form is supported by a robust steel structure, while curved glass balustrades and walls wrap around it like a transparent ribbon. At each step, custom cast terrazzo stone treads provide a refined contrast to the sleek surfaces, leading the way upward in an effortless flow.

At its core, a 3D-milled Corian central column and inner cylinder anchor the staircase, a feat of precision manufacturing that adds both sculptural presence and functional stability. Softly integrated lighting components bring the entire structure to life, highlighting its curves and creating an interplay of light and shadow that evolves throughout the day.

More than just an engineering accomplishment, this staircase was a symphony of coordination. Extravega worked closely with consultants, architects, construction managers, ownership, and union labor, ensuring that every phase of the project unfolded seamlessly. The result is a stunning fusion of design and craftsmanship, a staircase that stands as a testament to Extravega’s expertise in delivering custom architectural masterpieces.engineering every aspect with meticulous precision.
